About The Event

Drumming is possibly the oldest and most effective form of active meditation know to human kind.  It is a simple and very effortless way to quiet the mind.  The heart of drumming is the heart beat.  The center of who we are and the connection to all living things.  When we purposefully connect to our inner rhythm, the therapeutic effects are endless.  Tension, anxiety and stress dissipates. Research indicates that drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system.  Music therapists and mental health therapists know this very well.  In a specific study conducted by Barry Bittman, MD, group drumming actually increases cancer-killing cells, which help the body combat cancer as well as many other viruses.  Drumming induces deep relaxation, releases emotional trauma and reduces stress.  Stress, being the major contributor to all diseases, I believe drumming is the perfect remedy and elixir for a long and joyful life!

We will begin by learning simple drum patterns.  Discover some relaxation drum techniques.  Dive into some playful drumming patterns.  And learn a few beats from different cultures. We will end our drumming lesson by helping you receive passively with a  betta drum rhythm to help you deepen your meditation heart connection.  During this rythmn you will be supported by bolsters, blankets and receive an eye pillow to help you calm your mind.

There will be Native American drums provided for sharing.  Please bring your own drum if possible. Djembe drums are welcome too!    All ages are welcome!
